Hangovers...... In other words, where to go eating and drinking!!
If you manage to get yourself to Jasna and find yourself in the unfortunate position that you are gonna be in the resort in the evenings, then our deepest sympathy is extended to you for this error in judgement :-) you should have read up here first ;-)Beautiful as the area may be up in the resort, unfortunately there is no Apres Ski atmosphere or chilled out bars to speak of that will stay open that long after the lifts shut down...... you have the comedy Phoenix nights-esque entertainment of the Hotel Grand which sees a classic keyboardist roll out his best 80's retro tracks, with the token girl in glittery ball dress trying her best to sing in a language she clearly has no idea about......... add to this the twice weekly highlight of the "Strip Show" in the hotel nightclub and you will generally get the picture that they really are plucking at straws to find things to entertain people.
So, In Brief - in the town, where to go and for what!:
Cafe & Cocktail:
The bar of choice for the discerning drinker who likes their fine wines and cocktails...... candlelit and cosy, the odd cigar going up, this place is just classy..... Award winners for their cocktails, they really know how to serve the customers.... do not go here expecting rowdy parties - its chilled and thats the way we like it.
Hudobron Music Bar:
Fridays and Saturdays this bar is crammed to the brim with local riders knocking back the insanely cheap drinks while listening to some funky tunes which changes on a weekly basis. The bar you are most likely to find yourself praying to the porcelain gods in after a drinking session that started out as a few beers with the boys and slowly degenerated into a 4am session........ And its always worth it.
Soda Club & Atlas Restaurants:
Generally the same style of good food. Soda club has more of a bar like feel to it than the classic restaurant of Atlas, but they both offer well priced good nosh.....
Route 66:
This is an odd one... hard to explain..... the downstairs of Route 66 is a modern american sports diner.... offering all your usual steaks and so on while taking in the finest of ExtremeSports on repeat..... then, after dinner, a little trip upstairs to the nightclub sees you descend into what can only be described as "Carry On Cabaret"...... mothers and daughters dancing around handbags with the huge selection of Polish hard men dancing to the worst live band you have ever seen..... apparently one of the singers was a contestant on the Slovak equivalent of X-Factor...... I can only assume that she was one of the people who tries to persuade Simon that they have the x-factor, only to hear them lay out the type of shit that dogs make when they are being put down....... Extreme comedy value for those who can put up with the music.....
Ski Club & Hotel Janosik:
These are 2 seperate places, but they both have the same kind of appeal, clubs playing trendy music with the former being in the town, with a younger crowd, and the Janosik being in a 4* hotel just on the outskirts which attracts a more mature, more affluent client...... both well worth a visit.
B-Club:
A bar which enters the Guinness Book of Records as being one of the most intimidating places on earth. Im pretty sure Baghdad would be pretty pleasant after this place. If you pluck up the courage to go in, just make sure that you dont look at any of the girls or smile at anyone. All this said, it does infact play some classic tunes, and if you are in a group, can be a top place to go...... Not only that, but its the only bar in town that Everyday will be open until you want to leave..... 4am 7 days a week... result.
